SMALL GROUP TRAINING

My high-energy, group training classes, designed for all fitness levels, have been specifically designed to give you a total body workout and help you become fitter and stronger. You rotate through different stations targeting you legs with exercises like squats, lunges and doing exercises to improve your power and endurance.My sessions are an ideal extra for anyone who participates in sport from running, cycling and swimming to tennis, cricket and football.

A third of my client base is over 70, and I have several over 80. Resistance training helps you to maintain and rebuild muscle and improves everyday activities like standing, walking, and climbing stairs. Lifting weights helps you to improve bone density and also stimulates bone growth. I will work on your balance helping to reduce the risk of falls, osteoporosis, and fractures. Making you stronger, especially in the legs and core, will enhance your balance and coordination. Regular strength training also helps to lower your blood pressure and improve memory and cognitive health

To get the edge in cycling you need to spend a small amount of time off the bike and in the gym.   I work with a number of cyclists whose performances have boosted considerably since starting strength training. What's more surprising is the improvements made doing just one session a week.  Getting stronger, especially in the legs (glutes, quads and hamstrings) will deliver more power, greater acceleration, better hill climbing, and higher sustained speeds. High-intensity efforts like sprints, attacks, or climbs) rely heavily on explosive strength. Cycling is a repetitive motion and often causes muscle imbalances, especially overdeveloped quads vs. weak glutes or hamstrings. Strength training corrects these imbalances and strengthens tendons and joints. Stronger muscles are more efficient, requiring less effort for each movement.

And of course we mustn't forget about our core. A strong core supports better bike posture and control. This reduces energy loss from poor positioning and helps maintain form over long rides.

When Pete first walked into my gym he'd be the first to admit he was tired and grey. As a hard working accountant he said he lacked energy and felt really unfit. Having reached 50 he decided it was now or never. His goal was a complete body transformation. He wanted to feel stronger and fitter than he had ever been. He knew there was hard work ahead but was determined to succeed. He trained with me once a week and I gave him a home workout programme to follow. 

I then looked at his diet. Pete was naturally slim but he had the dreaded middle-age spread. In order to build muscle I made sure he was getting adequate protein and that he was hitting his daily calorie target. He weighed in with me each week and every week his waist got slimmer and slimmer. In 6 months Pete's physique was completely transformed and his energy levels were through the roof.
